Folk fans invited to Bromsgrove Festival fringe events

FOLK fans are being invited to events which form part of Bromsgrove Festival’s fringe.

Each year Bromsgrove Folk Club brings international artists to the town as part of the festival’s commitment to bringing music of all tastes to the town.

On April 26, Cloudstreet will be making a welcome return to the town as they begin their 2012 summer tour.

The Australian duo play traditional music and have been a firm favourite following previous performances in Bromsgrove.

The show will be taking place at Catshill Social Club, in Meadow Road. Doors open at 7.40pm, with the show starting at 8.15pm.

On Thursday, May 10, Al Parrish will be performing at the venue, also from 8.15pm.

The Canadian used to be a bass player for the popular group Tanglefoot, but he has now branched out on his own.

Al is planning a night of his original material, as well as some carefully chosen covers including a couple of traditional songs and some Tanglefoot favourites.

Al plays all these songs on acoustic guitar, on his trademark double bass, or simply sings them a cappella.

Both events are priced at £6 for members, £8 for non-members.

They also come under the club's new policy of free membership and half price admission for anyone under 21-years-old.
