Beats to beat the January blues

A SERIES of live music events across the District are set to beat the January blues as Bromsgrove welcomes in 2022.

The Welcome Back Programme which was launched in October last year sees a January Blues Week being hosted in pubs across the town.

Bromsgrove District Council Leader Coun Karen May said: “We left 2021 with the fantastic news about the Burcot Lane development starting and that our town had received funding of £14.5m to regenerate the Market Street area and that Birdbox had won a national award.

“So I am delighted these good vibes are continuing as we enter 2022 to the sound of live music which, as well as supporting our local venues which have suffered during this pandemic, will provide merriment for our residents too.”

The January Blues Week comes on the back of Welcome Back Christmas and the Jazz around Town events using cash from the Government’s Welcome Back Fund and under the ‘Your People, Your Places, Your Bromsgrove’ banner.

These events mark the halfway point in a series of projects which will run through to 31 March 2022 as the Council and NWEDR work across the District’s centres to spend the money allocated by the Welcome Back Fund.

As part of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the monies are to support the safe return to high streets and help build back better from the pandemic.
