Words – Ben Cooper

Arytrix, Slideslow Drive, Bromsgrove, B60 1PQ

Ben Cooper spent the first 18 years of his life living in Bromsgrove.

He is now the Controller of one of the most famous radio stations in the world and one of the most powerful people in the broadcasting industry.

In the last two years, he has undertaken some of the biggest schedule changes in the past ten years, had to decide whether or not to play 'Ding Dong the Witch is Dead' after Margaret Thatcher's death, put on the biggest event in the station's history for 100,000 people and introduce Her Majesty The Queen to some of his famous DJs.

So, how did the boy from Aston Fields end up running BBC Radio 1? Ben reveals all on *date at time at venue*. In what promises to be a fascinating evening, Ben will also share his opinions on the future of radio and the challenges facing him when young people are spending more and more time on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
