Waking up with Wassailing at Avoncroft Museum, a family friendly event.
To open the Museum in the this new year we have planned a ‘Waking Up with Wassailing’ on the weekend of 25th and 26th February 2023.
We will have two processions taking place each day at 11.am and 1.30pm where the visitors will be encouraged to join in by dressing up in bright colours and joining in with singing and making a noise with pots and pans. A King and Queen of the Wassail will be selected and crowned by our procession leader and with their crowns made of collected greenery. The procession will be then be taken down to the orchard to select the oldest tree to decorate.
A special Wassail or toast will be made to the trees in our beautiful Orchard by all gathered with some mulled apple juice along with some learning opportunity surrounding our historical cider press and a chance to take part in wassailing themed activities.
So there will be plenty of time before or after each procession to visit some of the historic grounds and buildings or take part in the Wassailing activities.
We plan for all things apple and pear to be on sale in our cosy tea rooms including mulled apple juice and mulled cider.
