Bromsgrove Words – Joanna Toye

The New Guesten Hall, Avoncroft Museum of Buldings, Redditch Road, B60 4JR

Joanna ( who is a WORDS Supporter !! ) started as a P.A. at the BBC in Birmingham and since then has spent thirty years researching, producing and scriptwriting for shows such as ” The Archers “, ” Crossroads “, ” East Enders ” et al. She wrote also eleven spin off books, including six novelisations, about various BBC and ITV series.

But when the relentless deadlines became too much for her, she left to create her own fictional world – the life and loves of the Shop Girls in her fictional department store, ” Marlows “, inspired by a visit to an exhibition about the ( much missed ) Midlands Department Stores – ” Beatties “.

The fifth and latest book in the series – ” The Victory Girls ” – was published on July 8th.

For our first ” live ” event since February 2020, tickets will be limited, regrettably, to 60 and we have made the decision not to have a buffet lunch. Information as to how to buy the tickets will be posted soon on the Website.
