Bromsgrove Concerts present Jenkinson – Frith Duo (cello and piano)

Routh Hall, Bromsgrove School

  • Richard Jenkinson cello
  • Benjamin Frith piano

Both well known to local audiences – Richard Jenkinson as a long-time cellist with the CBSO, then with the Dante Quartet (who gave a fine Shostakovich Quartet Cycle in Artrix in 2018) and music director of the Orchestra of St John – Benjamin Frith as a member of the Gould Piano Trio and a concerto soloist – the Jenkinson- Frith Duo return to us following their concert in March 2016. This time they give us well known masterpieces by Schumann and Brahms with two surprisingly little known, but attractively romantic, works by Hungarian composers, dating from 1899 and 1909 respectively

Programme….

  • Schumann: Fantasy Pieces Op 73
  • Dohnanyi: Cello Sonata Op 8
  • Kodaly: Cello Sonata Op 4
  • Brahms: Cello Sonata No 1 Op 38
