Di Xiao is very well known in the Midlands but this is her first appearance for Bromsgrove Concerts. The first half of her concert consists of groups of short pieces from the early 19th Century but, in the second half, after a visit to Edwardian Britain for the Ireland pieces, we end in the turmoil of the Second World War with the first of Prokofiev’s ‘War Sonatas’ from 1940.
