Born in Madrid, raised in Chicago and holding dual Irish/American citizenship Sarah now resides in Cornwall.....or at least claims that as her base when not touring the world.

James Keelaghan is one of Canada's international stars. His passionate mix of roots rock, Americana, and contemporary folk has established Keelaghan's presence in Europe, Australia, and North America. While growing up in western Canada, Keelaghan was an avid follower of music and theater, but studied history while attending the University of Calgary. Music took over, however history would be a major catalyst in Keelaghan's warm-hearted songwriting.

Hugh McMillan – Multi-instrumentalist. Hugh is capable of playing practically anything with strings on it. He plays octave mandolin, mandolin, bass, fretless bass, 8 String Bass, pedal steel and lap steel, just for starters. He is a producer, composer and engineer, as well as a bit of a mad scientist. He plays concerts with Canada's super group Spirit of the West, James Keelaghan and Chilean-Canadian wildcat Oscar Lopez

  • Fri 24 Oct 2014 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM

    Artrix, Slideslow Drive, Bromsgrove,

    Lucy Gould - violin
    Alice Neary - cello
    Benjamin Frith - piano

The Gould Piano Trio will be playing a Trio specially commissioned by themselves written by James Macmillan, one of our foremost contemporary composers. This will come between Dvorak's folksy second Piano Trio and Schubert's B flat Trio, an extraordianry outpouring of warmth and humanity.

Something old, something new in this concert which spans the centuries. Schubert’s wonderful singing trio is always a favourite while the rarely played Dvorak trio is just as lyrical. Right up to date is the new trio by James MacMillan, premiered by the Gould trio at the Bath Festival earlier this year.

He works at the Continental Telephone Exchange where his pompous brother in law is his supervisor. Edward often "chats up" women operators in various exchanges. These affairs by proxy suddenly explode in his face when four glamorous females travel to London to compete in the Miss Europhone Contest and arrive at this home anxious to meet the flirtatious Mr. London in the flesh. Hilarious complications ensue as Edward strives to conceal his telephonic peccadilloes from his wife, his appalling mother in law and his lodger, an ardent curate.

by John Steinbeck : Directed by ndrew Corcoran

    Thursday 2nd to Saturday 4th October 2014 in the Main House | Thu 2 & Fri 3 October 10am & 1.30pm | Sat 4 October 2.30pm & 7.30pm

Set against the backdrop of the American Great Depression, John Steinbeck's powerful and gripping masterpiece tells the story of two outsiders in search of the American Dream.

“Guys like us that work on the ranches, are the loneliest guys in the world. They got no family. They don’t belong no place.”

George and his simple-minded friend Lennie have nothing in the world except the clothes on their backs and a dream that one day they will have some land of their own. A place to call home. Armed with nothing but hope, they hatch a plan to leave their life of poverty behind and make a fresh start.“A guy needs somebody - to be near him. Don't make no difference who the guy is, long's he's with you”

The two men find work on a ranch and life looks good. But their arrival triggers a tragic chain of events. George and Lennie must protect each other from the cruelty and injustice that threatens to shatter their dream.
