Helen Turner and Sharon Winfield produce spellbinding effects with their rich harmonies. Playing their own material, they’ve established an appealing stage presence and gathered an ever-growing fan base across the UK. Taking their inspiration from a wide range of styles, Union Jill bring their own energy and passion to the acoustic music scene. They mix traditional folk instrumentation with an edgy contemporary feel and powerful vocal delivery. Sharon and Helen’s ability to tell a story through lyrics draws in audiences of all types. Their material embraces historical themes and contemporary issues; personal experiences and protest songs. They have an on-stage banter that you only get from two women sharing a stage.

  • Thu 27 Aug 2015 8:00 PM - 10:30 PM

Winner of FATEA Magazine's Album of the Year 2014 and Female Vocalist of the Year 2013 and Nominated for Radio 2's Horizon Award 2015, ANGE HARDY has gained a deserved reputation throughout the folk world for her superb song writing skills, her beautiful voice and live performances.

Ange is is taking time out from a trip between her home in North Devon and a gig in Tyne and Wear to perform at Bromsgrove Folk Club on Thursday 27th August.

A couple of quotes that show the respect for Ange's work in high places.......

“Ange Hardy perfectly balances the strengths of traditional folk music with fresh writing...There is not a weak track among the 14 on Somerset singer-songwriter Ange Hardy's album The Lament of the Black Sheep” - Martin Chilton, The Telegraph

“Another album that’s made an impact this year is ‘The Lament of the Black Sheep’ by Ange Hardy. Everybody in the studio was genuinely surprised to learn this new single was her own song, because it sounds like a song that’s been around for a hundred years or more. It’s a really neat trick to write songs that sound almost traditional!” – Mark Radcliffe, BBC Radio 2

Bromsgrove's own, critically acclaimed MadCap Theatre Productions bring A Midsummer Night's Dream 'home' to Artrix for the final night of their national tour.

Especially when the wood in question is currently playing host to two warring fairies, their mischievous followers and, of course, an infamous band of wannabe actors and an ass-headed man.

Shakespeare is always made understandable and enjoyable with MadCaps’ way of staging fun, fast-paced and entertaining Shakespeare with a lot of ‘Madcap’ flair!

Combining music, dance, stage combat and physicality with the original script join us for an evening of Shakespeare that is not to be missed!

Kristina Olsen is one of the most entertaining and compelling performers on the international acoustic circuit. A superb multi-instrumentalist (acoustic guitar, steel-body slide guitar, saxophone, concertina, banjo, mandolin and piano) as well as an award-winning songwriter with a big bluesy voice, Kristina has audiences around the world coming back for more. Her mix of powerful songs ranging from sassy bottleneck blues to lilting ballads to swing jazz to raunch and roll (as well as her hilarious storytelling) makes for a diverse and satisfying musical experience, on stage, on disc and in book.

Born in San Francisco and raised in Haight-Ashbury during the 1960's, Kristina's approach to music and life was formed by that environment of vital cultural expression, social activism and diverse musical influences. She now calls Venice Beach, Los Angeles home but rarely sees it from touring ten months a year.

Kristina will be supported by the Club's popular resident band, Fairfield
