    A DAY of board game fun and tuition is to take place for a good cause at the Artrix in Bromsgrove on Saturday, August 11 from 1pm.


    Experts will be on hand to demonstrate how to play a huge variety of games, old and new, and people taking part are asked to make a donation to the Stroke Association.
     

    There will also be a brand new board game being demonstrated that will be on sale on the day, and the creator will be donating £5 from every game sold to the Stroke Association.

    Renowned local guitarist Tony Portlock, a master in folk, blues and jazz guitar, is joined by new sensation Becky Manear who got up to sing with Tony at the recent Bromsgrove Folk Festival and was an immediate hit.

    They will be joined by two thirds or Fairfield Bromsgrove's resident group and Luke Smith, ably standing in for our missing member.

    Music starts at 8.15pm. Admission for members £6.00; non-members £8.00; under 21s (proof required) £3.00 and free membership.

    • Fairfield - Bromsgrove Folk Club's own resident band singing anything from trad to self-penned gems. Their new LIVE CD will be on sale on this night
    • Gren Bartley - Effortlessly astonishing guitar and banjo playing and a soft absorbing voice to take you on a journey through the ever growing link between traditional English songs to the darkest American blues ballads.
    • John Tams and Barry Coupe - Representing the best in British music, John is renowned for his work with The National Theatre, as rifleman Daniel Hagman in the Sharpe TV series and is a member of Home Service voted Best Live Act at this yeare's BBC2 Folk Awards. Barry is part of Coupe Boyes and Simpson who regaled last years Festival auduience with their fine harmonies.
    • Blackbeard's Tea Party - To finish off the night we have one enormous, sing-along, stomp-along, dance-along, monster of a folk band. These kids just won't sit still and neither will you. Bring your dancing pumps (or wellies!)
