    Cake and Coffee Concert at St John's Church

    Young musicians from Bromsgrove School

     

    The Brass group and Boys' choir will be providing entertainment for around 50 mins at 10.30am, followed by cake and tea or coffee. Admission is free with a retiring collection.

    Endymion is an ensemble, founded in 1979, made up of seven well-known chamber music players who often perform as smaller groups, as in this concert. Krysia Osostowicz is well known to Bromsgrove Concerts audiences as the leader of the Dante Quartet and Stephen Stirling appeared in our only previous performance of the wonderful Ligeti Horn Trio back in 1997.

    The Eblana Trio concert scheduled for 2nd March 2018 had to be cancelled due to snow. We are delighted that they have been able to rearrange it in March 2019 with no change to the programme. Formed in 2006 at RNCM, where they won all the major chamber music prizes, the Eblana Trio were Junior Fellows at Birmingham Conservatoire from 2013 to 2015. Violinist Jonathan Martindale has been Assistant Leader of the CBSO since June 2016

    Barnt Green Choral Society Spring Concert

    Fanfare!

    Our Spring concert will feature a selection of works for choir, organ and brass ensemble

     

    Chilcott – Jubilate: Based on the words of Psalm 100 and incorporating ‘Prayer’, a poem by Gerard Manley Hopkins. This moving work combines public rejoicing with intimate personal praise.

    Rutter – Gloria: A three movement setting of part of the Latin mass, it displays drama, devotion and rousing exuberance.

    Also:  Macmillan – Ecce Sacerdos Magnus;  Pachelbel – Nun danket alle Gott; Widor – Sing!

    Tickets £12 (under 16s free) may be purchased from choir members or on the door. Refreshments will be available in the interval

    The Piatti Quartet were joint winners of the 2nd prize at the Wigmore Hall International Competition. They commissioned and premiered the Joseph Phibbs quartet and their recording of it is due to be issued on the Champs Hill label at about the time of this concert.
